Two Multistrada 1200 S Touring models from 2017 came through our doors around the same time. This is the lower-mileage of the pair at 12,019 miles, priced at $12,695.
The 2017 Multistrada 1200 S is powered by the 1,198 cc Testastretta DVT, a liquid-cooled L-twin with desmodromic valve timing that varies continuously on both the intake and exhaust sides. Ducati quoted 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and 136 Nm of torque, and the DVT system gave this generation a wider, friendlier spread of power than the Multistrada 1200 that came before it.
This was also the generation that brought an inertial platform to the Multistrada, which enabled Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, cornering lights, and the semi-active Skyhook suspension on the S model. Riding modes are Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro, each with its own power delivery and electronics settings. The Touring pack on these bikes was Ducati's road-trip bundle: side cases, heated grips, and a center stand. We'll verify what's on this one when you come in.
At 12,000 miles, this bike has plenty left in it and has passed the point where any early issues would have shown up. The valve check interval on the DVT engine is generous for a Ducati, and we'll tell you where it stands.
If you want a big-twin Multistrada with real electronics for the price of a middleweight, this is worth a look. It's at MotoCorsa in Portland, and we're happy to put it side by side with its higher-mileage sibling so you can compare condition and decide which one makes sense for you.
